A brick calculator helps you estimate the number of bricks, mortar, cement, sand, and total construction cost for brick walls. It considers wall dimensions, brick size, mortar joint thickness, wastage, and openings to give you a reliable estimate.
The basic formula is: Number of bricks = Net wall volume ÷ Volume of one brick with mortar. Mortar joint thickness is added to brick dimensions to get the effective volume.
For a 10 ft × 10 ft wall with 9-inch thickness using standard bricks (190×90×90 mm) and 10 mm mortar joint, you need approximately 1,800–2,000 bricks including wastage. Use the calculator above for exact numbers.
Wastage of 5–10% is typically added to account for breakage, cutting, and site handling. You can adjust the wastage percentage in the calculator.
Mortar volume is the difference between the total brickwork volume and the actual volume of bricks. It is then increased by a dry volume factor (usually 1.33) to account for shrinkage.
Cement and sand are calculated from the dry mortar volume using the selected ratio (e.g., 1:6). Cement bags are rounded up to the nearest whole bag.

Yes. The calculator layout is fully responsive and the calculation logic works the same on mobile and desktop.
It is an approximate estimate for planning. Add wastage and confirm with your engineer or contractor before ordering.
Approximately 500–600 bricks for a 4.5-inch wall using standard bricks, including wastage. Use the calculator for exact numbers.
Common sizes include 190×90×90 mm, 230×110×75 mm, and 230×110×70 mm. You can also enter custom sizes.
Typically 5% to 10% wastage is recommended for breakage, cutting, and handling.
Mortar volume is the difference between total brickwork volume and the actual volume of bricks, adjusted by a dry factor (usually 1.33).
It depends on mortar ratio and volume. The calculator gives you the exact number of bags needed, rounded up.
